I gave this place a 2nd chance and I'm glad I did. The brisket sandwich was very tasty. I would definitely order it again!

We have some good clam chowder soup with even better fresh sourdough bread. My chicken salad on rye was delicious with almond, celery, and grapes. I recommend trying their their food!

We love their sandwiches and service! It's always so clean and tidy. Well stocked with chips and treats.

West Coast Sourdough is a small chain of about 30 restaurants, located mostly in Northern and Central California. Most locations are franchises, and the menu specilizes in sandwiches, made using freshly-baked San Francisco style sourdough bread. As you enter the restaurant, the first thing you notice is the large counter where the sandwiches and salads are made. Soups are made in the kitchen, where the fresh sourdough bread and cookies are baked. The sandwich menu is placed on the wall, behind the order station. All sandwiches are priced by size, which is really nice. Note a "BBQ Brisket" sandwich is priced the same as "Ham," - by the size - as brisket is normally twice the price as ham. The other board lists "Up Grade" for an extra price so you can make your sandwich into a meal if you choose. Talented sandwich chefs, Nancy and Yesi prepared my sandwich. Like all sandwich restaurants, trays of components are placed within easy reach for the chefs, as during busy hours, time is the essence. It's only 11:10 in the morning, but 45 minutes, as I was leaving, the line of hungry diners was nearly out the door, and people were sitting around waiting for their orders to be filled. From the "Soups" section of the menu, I went for a bread bowl of "New England Clam Chowder," which is perhaps my favorite soup. Today's "Soup of the Day" was "Cream of Potato," which was tempting, but I simply had to go with the clam chowder. I opted to enjoy my soup in a "Bread Bowl" as I can't get enough of the amazing sourdough bread served at this fine restaurant. As per my order of a "Bread Bowl," the soup arrived hollowed-out, bowl of freshly baked sourdough bread, hot out of the kitchen. As a nice side, the hollowed-out portion was on the side, which made for amazing dipping. Yes, it was clam chowder in the style of New England, and the chowder was simply delicious. The chowder began with a thick, creamy broth, just the right consistency. Like all clam chowder, it had clams, bacon, diced potatoes and seasoning. It was the perfect balance between the rich, white broth and the juicy clams and other ingredients. From the "Build Your Sandwich" section of the menu, I went for the "#17 BBQ Brisket" which is served hot. I love a delicious sandwich, so I went for the 8" size, so I could bring half of it home with me for dinner. Like all sandwiches on the menu, the sandwich began with a roll of freshly baked, San Francisco style sourdough bread, fresh and hot from the kitchen. I ordered all of the options from the "Fill It Up" section of the menu, as I love a full sandwich. Yesi, the talented chef who created my sandwich first cut the roll in half, length wise and applied "House Sauce" - which is essentially seasoned mayonnaise - to both sides of the roll. From the bottom of the sandwich, working up, she stacked sliced red onion, sliced shredded lettuce and the "star" of the show... a generous helping of barbecued beef brisket mixed with lots of barbecue sauce. The sandwich was topped with a slice of melted pepperjack cheese. One bite into this amazing sandwich was a WOW! moment! The freshly-baked sourdough roll was simply perfect, as it was baked with a light, golden brown crust with just the right amount of "crunch," while the inside was tender and moist. The veggies were fresh, flavorful and firm... not soggy like you'll find at lesser sandwich restaurants. This sandwich was simply delicious! The meat-to-bun radio was perfect, the cheese added flavor, and the mixture of fresh veggies balanced out the sandwich. Amazing! Some of the best sourdough bread I've ever eaten! Soup and sandwich were excellent, staff was friendly and service was great. Five stars!

These guys know what they're doing! My sister and I came in on a Saturday afternoon and were welcomed right away. We've been here many times before and their service is always great. We ordered our food and the gentleman taking our order was very patient. I can be picky about my food and he allowed me modify without feeling rushed. He may have been the owner, not sure but he was very kind. The restaurant itself was nice and clean- good music . We'll be back (: We ordered: Grilled Chicken Pesto 9/10 Veggie 9/10

New location in the Plaza at Blue Oaks I visited during the grand opening weekend of West Coast Sourdough (2/11 and 2/12/23). The shop is located next to Chipotle in the new retail development anchored by Raley's O-N-E Market. While I missed the freebie sandwich yesterday (first 150 guests) today's offer was BOGO. This is a much smaller location than the one at Creekside Town Center across from The Galleria mall. I ordered a Garlic Turkey Pesto (for me) and got the Chicken Salad sandwich for my daughter. We usually frequent Sourdough & Co. but West Coast is just as good and I'm so glad to have a good sandwich shop close to home. I dropped by around noon and there were two parties of two people each ahead of me. Service was efficient from the cashier to the kitchen staff and I got my sandwiches fast. I decided to have mine to go so my daughter and I can have our sandwiches at the same time. My Garlic Turkey Pesto was good a delicious. From my experience at the Creekside location I requested to go light on the house dressing and it was perfect. The bread was fresh with a nice crunch to it. Daughter enjoyed her Chicken Salad sammie too! Happy to see West Coast Sourdough in our 95747 zip. Review #2869

Saturday, February 11, 2023, was the Grand Opening of West Coast Sourdough on Blue Oaks Blvd in the Raley's O-N-E plaza. It is next door to Chipotle. Hours for that day were 12 PM to 7 PM. It opened just in time for Super Bowl 2023! The first 150 customers received a free sandwich for their choice. Arriving about 1 hour after the opening time of noon, I missed the cut for the first 150, but easily qualified for the free chocolate chip cookie for the next 100 customers. I was also able to get the BOGO deal for the sandwiches, which lasts all weekend until 2/12/23. Check out their social media for more deals 2/13/23 to 2/19/23. Since I missed the free sandwich, I decided to get out of the long line and come back later. I got back in a much shorter line around 2:30 pm. While in line, I received my free cookie. I got in line by the side patio door, and the line took about a half hour from there. I was fortunate to meet a friendly and patient man in front of me to chat with to pass the time away. He wasn't even there for the Grand Opening promotions. A resident of the nearby Sun City Roseville, he was just excited that a new sandwich place opened! He informed me about the legal battle between the sourdough sandwich businesses. He happily ate his free cookie in line while I brought it home to photograph. You can choose a 4" or 6" or 8" sandwich. There is a $2 price difference between sizes. Bread choices are the Sourdough Roll (freshly baked), Sliced Honey Wheat, Sliced Marble Rye, and Gluten Free Roll. I ordered two hot sandwiches, Reuben and French Dip. French Dip comes with au jus. Fun to dip in broth. I liked the tasty and sour sauerkraut in the Reuben. Sourdough bread was soft and delicious. I preferred the Reuben over the French Dip. Note: Do NOT microwave the Au Jus soup container for the French Dip. The bottom could form plastic-like blisters and might leak. It is industrially compostable and not suitable for home composting. Make sure to read the labels on the To Go containers. I did ask for lettuce and tomato to the side. I could see it rung up as "on the side" on the register. Very cool that it came in its own soup container. It was shredded lettuce and tomato slices. Restaurant also offers soups, salads, meal combos, and kids meals. I look forward to trying the clam chowder bread bowl someday. The soup offered today was Broccoli Cheddar. I put my cookie in the bag with my hot sandwiches to go. By the time I got home, my chocolate chip cookie was ooey gooey soft and melty. So yummy! I prefer soft and chewy over crispy cookies. This is a good place to satisfy a cookie craving. Restaurant offers catering for a minimum order of 10. Prices look really reasonable. If you love sourdough rolls, yummy sandwiches, or cookies, coast by West Coast Sourdough!
